The State Government of Tamil Nadu has recently launched a Women Empowerment initiative known as the Tamil Nadu Government 1000 Rupees Scheme, in which the Government aims to provide a financial benefit of INR 1,000 to all transgender individuals and women heads of households across the Tamil Nadu state. This initiative is aimed at providing benefits to around 1 Crore females across the Tamil Nadu State, directly transferring financial benefits into female beneficiaries’ accounts by DBT. About the Tamil Nadu Government 1000 Rupees Scheme

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu State, M.K. Stalin, has launched this Female Empowerment initiative called Tamil Nadu Government 1000 Rupees Scheme on 15th September, 2013. Under which the Government aims to provide financial benefits of INR 1000 to all the Women Heads of the family and Transgenders across the Tamil Nadu State. This initiative is officially known as Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam and as per the reports stated by the Government this initiative will benefit around 1 Crore females across the Tamil Nadu State.

The Government has allocated a financial budget of INR 13,807 Crore for the implementation of this scheme. With the help of this scheme, the female head of the family, Transgender women, and widowed women will be able to stand and empower themselves, and don’t have to depend on anyone for their daily needs and requirements.

Purpose of the Tamil Nadu 1000 Rupees Scheme for Women

The main purpose behind the Tamil Nadu 1000 Rupees Scheme is to empower women by providing them with financial help and support so that they can stand and be confident about themselves. According to this scheme, the Government will provide a financial help of INR 1000 to all the women head of households, transgenders, and widowed females. As per the reports stated by the Government, till now, around 1.14 crore females have received financial benefits through this scheme. The Government of Tamil Nadu has allocated a total budget of INR 13,807 Crore for the implementation of this scheme.

  • Priority should be given to Transgenders, Widowed Women, Disabled Females and women head of the Households.
  • Age should be above 21 Years.
  • Any member of the Applicant family should not be a taxpayer or in the government sector.
